Day 3 - "Hello stranger Hello there stranger Does this, road go all the way to Little Rock? I've been standing here all day and it hasn't gone nowhere

Today's Route:

498 miles

It's 6 am and I'm heading out. The weather channel says bad weather coming right at me. Severe thunderstorm warning over all of Arkansas. I may have to forgo camping for tonight.

12:30 PM
At a rest stop outside Little Rock. The weather is pretty crappy, flash flood warning for the whole state. I'm going to stay in Fort Smith, AR tonight. Will post pics when I get there.

7:30 PM
Decided to skip camping (even though it's beautiful out right now) since they're still calling for a chance of strong storms. Went through to Fort Smith, AR, which is on the border of Arkansas and Oklahoma.

Looking ominous after leaving Nashville

This was a wicked thunderstorm, Maddy was not a fan

Ah, the south

Downtown Memphis, from the car

Crossing over the Mississippi River

The Natural State? What does that even mean?

Eastern Arkansas is very flat

...and Esposito scores on the rebound!

They do some strange things in this state

The Ozarks in the background

Lake Dardenelle, where I was going to camp

Stayed here instead, it's like any other hotel. But the desk chair is pretty comfy.

Maddy has been laying in the car all day, but she still needs to lay down to eat. So lazy.

Having a couple of local brews and watching the Flyers game

Today was the longest drive yet, but it wasn't too bad, except for the 2 bad thunderstorms. Wish I could have camped tonight, but I'm avoiding tornadoes at all cost. But I'm planning on camping in Black Kettle National Grassland tomorrow night, then camping in Albuquerque on Saturday night.

When I was checking into the hotel tonight, I was standing next to two people from Vineland, NJ who were moving to San Diego - small world.
